Intelligent Network Interface Controller for MOST150 oPHY

The OS81110 is a highly integrated Intelligent Network Interface Controller (INIC) for the 150 Mbps MOST® network (MOST150). The OS81110 interfaces directly to a MOST150 FOT header. This enables high-bandwidth data transmission by means of LED and polymer optical fiber (POF). As a result, the optical wire harness and connectors of MOST25 can be used. New mechanisms to transport video streams and to move not synchronized audio are available. In addition original Ethernet frames can be transported.
Like all INIC circuits, the OS81110 implements time-critical, resource-intensive and fail-safe relevant parts of the network driver on-chip.

A few highlights:

  • NEW MOST Ethernet channel
    • Transport of legacy Ethernet frames
    • On-chip support of IEEE MAC addressing
  • NEW isochronous channels
    • Transport of streams that are not synchronized to MOST
  • Support of all legacy MOST data types
  • Complete MOST network interface on a single chip
    • Fully encapsulated
    • Optimized for a 150 Mbps optical physical layer (POF)
  • Embedded MOST network management
    • Network protected mode
    • Hardware and application watchdog timer
    • Intelligent muting
TrueAuto™ is SMSC’s proven total approach to true automotive-grade quality, allowing SMSC to deliver leading-edge, quality devices and services which fulfill the needs of the most demanding automotive customers.

TrueAuto device robustness begins with designing SMSC's reliability techniques within the silicon IC itself. The IC is fully-characterized over many operating parameters to ensure quality under a variety of conditions. SMSC's TrueAuto approach meets or exceeds automotive reliability standards as well as customer-specific requirements and goes far beyond the stress tests prescribed by the AEC-Q100 specifications. Extensive technologies and processes, such as enhanced monitors, are used in the fabrication of TrueAuto products in order to continuously drive improvements in accordance with SMSC's zero Defects per Million (DPM) goals.
