Revision C1A NS V3 NS V2 NS V1 oPHY ePHY MediaLB DTCP MOST150 MOST50 MOST25 DescriptionThe OS85650 and OS85652 are Input/Output Companion ICs that provide MediaLB port expansion. They allow a wide variety of I/O types to be conveniently interfaced to a MOST network. All MOST data types are supported (control, asynchronous, synchronous and isochronous). A powerful routing engine allows simultaneous routing of data between the MediaLB (3-Pin and/or 6-Pin) and the various I/O ports available on the chip including:
The OS85650 includes a DTCP encryption/decryption engine that can provide secure data transfer between sources and sinks located across the network. The DTCP co-processor autonomously encrypts and decrypts up to eight synchronous and/or isochronous data channels routed through the device. It includes full AKE functionality, and supports both M6 and AES-128 ciphers according to ‘DTCP for MOST’ and ‘DTCP-IP’. This copy protection is required for securing the audio and video content of applications such as DVD, Blu-ray Disc™ and HD broadcast. The high-performance routing engine operates at an internal speed of up to 1.5 Gbits/sec. It is able to simultaneously route a variety of data types between applications hardware located on the PCB or between those applications and the MOST network. For example, a combination of Ethernet data packets, MPEG transport stream packets, and multiple audio channels required for 7.1 surround sound applications can be routed between ports and encrypted/decrypted as necessary. The I/O Companion can interface with any of SMSC's Intelligent Network Interface Controller (INIC) devices via the MediaLB 3-Pin interface. The additional MediaLB 6-Pin interface enables high-speed communication to the INIC150 which is required for higher bandwidth applications. Together with the 16-bit parallel HBI, it enables a high-speed connection between the INIC150 and multiple EHCs with over 300 Mbits/sec. It is also possible to use the OS8565x as a bridge between MediaLB 6-Pin and MediaLB 3-Pin. Hardware Block Diagrams
ApplicationsThe I/O Companion serves as a generic I/O port expander and multi-session DTCP co-processor for various audio and video applications such as:
